Among other things, like the ones you mention, Christ also teaches tolerance. It would seem to follow that tolerance, wisdom, and love would lead one to understand why abortion has to be allowed: because 1)-other people feel that it should be, and 2)-it cannot be established scientifically when exactly the body is 'ensouled' (qualifying for "thou shalt not kill" if indeed the Biblical commandments are what society should be led by). According to Christianity, should we not tolerate and try to understand the beliefs of others? Should we not let society be what it is, and let our own morals and spirituality guide our actions and not mandate the actions of others?
The trouble I have with the 'Christian Vote' is it is not Christian at all. If it were, it would stay out of politics, and let God decide who to elect. Or, it would embrace letting any Christian voter vote solely on their own conscience, without trying to exert influence or judgment over that conscience, because despite how people vote God will determine who is elected anyway. If we believe Revelations, the anti-Christ will come to power no matter what we do... it is God's will.
